Italian Varnish Red

From 36,00

Our Classical Coloured Oil Varnishes provide a beautiful, transparent, and durable film. They offer optimal results and can be combined with classic oil varnishes and Oil Natural Colours.

They are formulated with modified resinates and rosin and combined with proven linseed oils. This results in an optimal balance between hardness and flexibility, which is necessary to protect the instrument.

Before use, we recommend testing on pieces or parts of wood, like the instrument to be treated, to predict the colour tone that can be achieved in each case.

This varnishes can be applied by hand (with gloves) or by brush. The best results are obtained with a multilayer system, applying very thin layers, thus ensuring good drying of each layer.

They are ready to use, so they do not need dilution before usage. If necessary, check the Technical Data File for diluting instructions.

Sanding between layers is recommended during the varnishing process; the intensity depends on the quality of the dry film obtained.

Once applied, it should be exposed to natural UV light for about 10 hours. Allow 12-24 hours before applying the next layer. Old Wood recommends drying in a UV chamber with AB lamps, as this allows us to control the intensity of the light and the drying times.
