Our Natural Oil Colours are traditional oil-based pigments designed for fine woodworking, particularly for classical stringed instruments.

These colours are formulated using natural raw materials and are known for their depth, transparency, and durability. They enhance the natural beauty of wood, providing a rich, luminous finish.

Before use, it is recommended to test on pieces or parts of wood like those of the instrument to be treated to predict the colour tone that can be achieved in each case.

Application Guidelines

These are short, general indications. For more detailed instructions, please download the Technical Data Sheet available for this product.

1

Before applying them, take a small quantity of the chosen colours and mix them in a clean container using your gloved finger until the desired hue is achieved.

Add oil varnish in a 1:1 ratio aprox and mix until a homogeneous colour is obtained, with Classical Amber Varnish being the optimal choice. Testing the colour on a transparent plastic or wood sample is recommended to ensure the expected hue is reached.

&&
2

Apply the mixed product by hand using vinyl or nitrile gloves, spreading thin and homogeneous layers as a glaze. For hard-to-reach areas, use a brush.

After applying, remove any excess product by wiping the gloves with a clean, lint-free cloth. If using a brush, follow the same steps, but note that more varnish and a small amount of solvent may be required.

&&
3

Allow each layer to dry under UV light for at least 8-10 hours when applied by hand, with additional drying time needed for brush applications. Apply alternating thin layers of clear varnish without colours, sanding each dried layer with a linen cloth or micromesh paper to remove dust and improve adhesion.

Repeat this process 3 to 4 times to achieve the desired colour, finishing with 2 or 3 layers of clear varnish to seal the colour.
