Siccative
OW Siccative is a balanced formulation of siccatives for luthiers who make or use their varnishes. Ready to add to linseed and walnut oils, traditional components of string instrument varnishes.
It provides homogeneous drying “from the bottom to the top” regardless of the thickness of the applied varnish coating. This helps develop and enhance the coating’s tenacity and suppleness, avoiding tensions and optimising the drying time to the utmost.
It is easy and fast to add to the varnish. OldWood varnishes have the siccative already incorporated.

The recommended dosage is 5ml or gr. (1 ml equals approx . to 40 drops) of OW – Siccative per each 100 ml or gr. of oil in the varnish.
It is recommended that OW Siccative be added to the solvent used for viscosity adjustment. This guarantees a complete, fast, and effective dilution of the drier in the varnish.

It’s crucial to remember that total drying time depends on the quantity of oil included in the varnish, the film thickness, the environmental conditions of humidity and temperature, and the intensity of radiation type (solar vs UV).

Security
According to Regulation No 1272/2008 (CLP), this product is not a hazardous substance or mixture for health or the environment.
Protective gloves against minor hazards and panoramic goggles against splashes and/or projections are recommended to prevent eye or skin contact.

Storage
Store it in its original container, tightly closed and cool, and do not expose it to direct light or outdoor elements. Avoid heat, radiation and static electricity.
Under standard conditions, the OW Siccative is stable for over two years.
